‘Dragons & Kingfishers’

There is an island
that lies in the Salish Sea
In early September it calls to me
The Kingfishers fly their halcyon displays
Red dragons are tap tap tapping
their new life away
The grasshopper afternoon’s heat
goes with me as I slide
into the lakes liquid velvet I dive
Once again
it is all clear to me
